Low FODMAP Mashed Potatoes and Gravy – the classic combo is made FODMAP-friendly with the help of low FODMAP chicken broth.



  • 5 Tbsp. unsalted butter (or ghee)
  • 5 Tbsp. sweet rice flour (or tapioca flour)
  • 4 cups low FODMAP chicken broth (or other low FODMAP broth)
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional herbs: rosemary, thyme or sage


  1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Once melted, add flour and whisk vigorously until smooth paste forms. Continue to whisk until mixture turns a light beige color, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. While continuing to whisk, slowly stream in chicken broth. Continue to cook, whisking, until gravy thickens. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and season with salt, pepper, and optional herbs. Serve warm.
